Fiction

The next step in my evolution as a writer is to take the plunge into fiction. I consider it my calling; as much as hearing that phrase is cause to make me cringe, it’s where I believe my writing journey is now headed.

I am focussing on writing contemporary inspirational stories that lift a corner on the reader’s world and get them to go a little deeper into life, on topics such as church, reality TV, atheism, consumerism, social media and relationships.

My first novel has just been completed.  Called Pastor Swap, it pitches network television against church in a clash of cultures, civilisations and truth. This is the story:

Two pastors take part in Pastor Swap, a reality TV show for the Christian market. Brad Shepherd needs to save his dying church. Jack Alexander wants to emerge from the shadow of his megachurch pastor father.

But Randy Stone, the show’s producer, has plans for how he will portray church on TV, because there is no god bigger than him.

It finalled in the 2016 ACFW Genesis Contest and is now being considered by a few publishing houses for release.

My second novel is called The Baggage Handler:

A simple baggage mix-up at the airport is more than an inconvenience: it forces three people to face what they are carrying around every day of their lives.

It’s also going through the machine with several publishing professionals.
